Trainers

A Trainer is a plane that will help you in your first stages of learning to fly remote control planes. As a rule they are a high winged aircraft with a flat bottom wing, there are some trainers with a semi-symmetrical airfoil which will let you perform more aerobatics as you advance. They usually have tricycle landing gear and have a slower stall speed than other type of aircraft. You will also notice the dihedral build into the wing this help it to self correct to stable flight.

Good Trainer Choices:

bulletSig - Kadet LT-40
bulletHobbico - Avistar 40
bulletHobbico - Hobbistar 60 MKIII
bulletHanger 9 - Alpha Trainer
bulletHanger 9 - Arrow 40
bulletTower Hobbies Trainer 40 - 60

Tricycle Gear

When building a trainer with tricycle landing gear be sure to file a flat spot on the nose gear strut to prevent it from slipping in the control arm.

Rubber Bands

If you place your used fuel soaked rubber bands in a old coffee can with cat litter it will absorb the fuel and make the rubbers bands last longer.
